Wealth sits in the business, property and Indian mutual funds. Wants a share of industries that Indian indices barely hold.
Home / Portfolios
Three ways to own the world. Or build your own.
Three ready-built global portfolios, each with one clear job. Or a bespoke portfolio of the stocks, bonds, gold and property you specifically want. All held abroad, in your own name.
What is this money for?
Goals first. Products last.
We never start with a product. Your portfolio is the last decision we make together, not the first.
- 1
Your goal
What the money is for, and when you will need it.
- 2
Your risk
How much movement you can sit through without selling.
- 3
Your mix
How your global money splits across growth, stability and real assets.
- 4
Your portfolio
One of the three models, a combination, or a bespoke build.
Where each one sits.
From steadier to bigger swings, based on what each portfolio holds. A common structure: a core, plus a smaller satellite.
Indicative positioning from each portfolio’s holdings. Not a forecast of returns or losses.
Portfolio 01 · Growth · Satellite
Global Megatrends. Six themes, deliberately spread.
The industries reshaping the world economy. Some, like AI chips, biotech and cybersecurity, barely exist on India’s market; in others, like the grid and defence, the global leaders are listed abroad. Held through diversified funds, not a handful of stocks, and spread so that no single theme decides the outcome.
Target mix
Tilt: about 35% industrials (grid and defence) and 20% healthcare.
Explore the themes
Select a theme to see what it owns and why it is here.
Who it is for
Already has a global core. Adds a growth holding to sit next to it for a decade.
Money for a goal 10 or more years away, such as a child’s future, where time can absorb the swings.
Portfolio 02 · Balance · Core
Multi-Asset. Equities plus real assets.
The 500 largest US companies in equal size, alongside the things that tend to hold value when prices rise: property, infrastructure, natural resources, gold and commodities.
Target mix
Mix: equity-type assets 75% (stocks, resources, property, infrastructure) · gold 15% · commodities 10%.
Why equal weight
Each sliver is one of the 500 largest US companies. Market weight: the top 10 held 37.9% of the S&P 500 in June 2026. Shape of the remaining 490 is illustrative.
Who it is for
Wants one broad holding abroad before adding anything more specific.
Prefers owning property, infrastructure, resources and gold over a portfolio that is all growth stocks.
Already owns the biggest tech names through index funds and does not want more of them.
Portfolio 03 · Quality · Core
US Value. Profitable companies at sensible prices.
The core of the world’s largest market, without paying up for its most expensive stocks. Four sources of value, from large established companies to smaller ones the market overlooks.
Target mix
Largest sectors: financials 17% · energy 11% · healthcare 11% · tech hardware 10% · consumer goods 8%.
A steadier line
A sketch of how a lower-sensitivity portfolio moves against the market. Illustration only, not data.
Who it is for
Thinks in profits and cash flow, the way they run their own business.
Wants US exposure but is uneasy about how much the market pays for a few tech stocks.
Likes companies that pay out cash. US dividends carry US withholding tax, which can be credited against Indian tax.
Side by side.
Every portfolio is held in dollars, in your own Interactive Brokers account, under one Meridian fee.

Beyond the three
Bespoke. The world, one holding at a time.
When you want something specific, we build around it: a company you believe in, a country, a sector, dollar bonds for a dated goal, or gold at the global price. Same account, same fee, same paperwork done for you.
Global stocks
Listed companies on the world’s major exchanges, from the US to Japan and Europe.
02Country and sector ETFs
One fund for a whole market or industry, from Japan to healthcare.
03Gold in dollars
Physically backed gold, priced at the international rate.
04US Treasuries and bonds
Dollar income that matures on a date you choose.
05Real estate securities
Listed owners of data centres, towers and warehouses.
06Digital assets
Listed bitcoin funds. Discussed one to one only.
Gold at the global price.
Gold bought in India, from jewellery to gold funds, is priced off a domestic rate that carries India’s import duty. Gold held abroad, in a listed and physically backed fund, tracks only the international price and the dollar.
Physical gold bought in India≈ 118.5
Gold fund held abroad100
India’s gold import duty is a policy lever
Effective duty: 15% from 2022, cut to 6% in July 2024, raised back to 15% (10% basic customs duty plus 5% cess) from 13 May 2026. The international price never carried it.
What you still pay abroad
- TCS on LRS remittances above the annual threshold, adjustable against your tax. TCS calculator
- Indian capital gains tax when you sell
- Currency conversion and the fund’s annual expense
Read this before you compare. A domestic price carries the duty when you buy and, mostly, when you sell, so the gap is not a saving you bank. What lasts: gold held abroad never pays GST, and it is not exposed to India changing its duty in either direction. A cut lowers domestic gold prices; a rise lifts them.
Illustration on an international price of 100. GST applies to physical gold (3% on the duty-inclusive value), not to gold funds. Domestic prices can also trade at a premium or discount. This is not a forecast, and gold prices can fall.
Dollar income, with a date on it.
US Treasury bills and notes, and investment-grade corporate bonds, held to maturity. Build a ladder so money comes back in dollars exactly when a dollar cost arrives: tuition, a home abroad, or income in retirement.
Own the landlords of the digital economy.
Real estate investment trusts own and rent out property, and pay most of their income to investors. Through them you own a slice of buildings you would never buy on your own.
US dividends, including from property trusts, face US withholding tax, which can generally be credited against Indian tax.
Digital assets
Bitcoin, through listed funds. One to one only.
Spot bitcoin funds trade on US exchanges like any other fund. But the RBI has not specifically addressed whether LRS money can buy them, so we never include them in a model portfolio. If you ask, we discuss it with you directly, with the risks in writing. Bitcoin has fallen more than 50% several times.
